Boonshoft Kaleidoscope In Space Invitation Case Study
Situation:
The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery hosted its annual gala in September 2009. Themed Kaleidoscope In Space, the event was an elegant, red-carpet affair designed to raise money for Boonshoft’s Planetary Sciences and Astronomy programs.
On a tight budget, Boonshoft needed to produce an invitation that matched the caliber of its black-tie event and provided an exciting glimpse of the kaleidoscope of experiences on the agenda.
Challenge:
The Museum’s in-house designer created a dimensional invitation that opened like a puzzle box. A sparkle varnish finish and a vellum flysheet also embellish the invitation.
To save money, Boonshoft planned to do the finishing work in-house – using volunteers to fold and stuff the final pieces. But as the mail date quickly approached, Boonshoft realized that their volunteers weren’t going to be able complete all of the handwork in time.
Solution:
Oregon and the Boonshoft volunteers worked together to stay on schedule. On short notice, Oregon’s staff was able to fold all of the invitations, completing the complicated finishing work by hand. Then, folded invitations were delivered to Boonshoft for volunteers to stuff into envelopes. By divvying up the work, the invitation was able to mail on schedule.
