Dayton Development Coalition
The Dayton Development Coalition is the regional economic development and advocacy organization whose mission is to support job creation and prosperity for the citizens of the Dayton Region, and Oregon Printing is honored to be a member as well as being their official printer. So when they host their annual meeting, there’s a lot of important people in attendance. And when they hand their annual report to everybody that comes in, it’s expected to impress people, which it did.

Situation:
The DDC annual meeting was scheduled on Thursday, January 15, 2009. Although there had been a few production planning meetings with Real Art Design Group (the designer) prior to the job breaking, the job was still a challenge. It utilized a ΒΌ” thick “Sleeve” to hold 18 different 6 x 9 “cards” about Dayton, and all was printed full color with a satin varnish. The sleeve had to be die cut, scored and then folded and glued by hand, and it had a “matchbook” top that needed to be able to close with a die cut latch. The cards had to be die cut with perfectly round corners, and they all needed to be collated and inserted into the sleeves.
The problem was with the 2008 year end, a lot of the statistical data was just not available in a timely fashion, so the finished files were not available until there was less than a week to spare.
Solution:
Since the sleeves had all “static” information on them, they were started 3 weeks in advance leaving time for all the handwork. And since the die dimensions for the cards were known in advance, that allowed the steel rule die for their cutting to be made in advance. So that when the files were completed for the cards, they were able to be cut, collated and inserted with a day to spare before the meeting. They looked great and everybody was happy!
